What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 270

I have been working on organizing my scraps AGAIN!  I think this might be a winner for me.  I have collected scraps for 11 years and they are WAY out of control.  Notice I said THEY are out of control, NOT ME. 

In the box to the left are my solid color scraps I have cut up into sizes.  This includes my card bases.  The patterned paper will basically be cut into card base size.  So, this should make my life easier, I am thinking…If the solid paper is not 3 inches….I will be tossing it…and if the patterned paper is not  4 1/4 X 5…not so sure I will be tossing that yet.

As I use this system, I will let you know if it works for me or not…

Now for some fun.  I am writing this on Thursday, because….I had preordered a new Pazzles Vue and it arrived!  Yippie Skippy!  It’s actually Thursday, because I stayed up late going through my book and trying to import a digi for the Cut and Print feature.

It was late…I missed some of his foot, poor Daisy the cow.  Ok, now to quickly color Miss Daisy after midnight…

lNo fussy cutting.  This was my first attempt, and I had moved my outline prior to cutting.  Had it not been so late, I would have fixed it.  Tasks for today:

Making the “white” not show up by doing an inline cut.

I am really impressed with the cut and print feature, after doing this quickie.

What’s On Your Work Desk–Wednesday 232

I don't pop and I'm not fresh – especially after gluing these all together, late at night!

Last year, a dear friend of my Aunt Cathy, Joy, shared her die and we cut all these. The Gingerbread man is cut out of chipboard and covered front and back with Designer Paper. I did nothing with them last year, at least I have glued them all together this year!

How to make a liner with your Envelope Punch Board

I am truly enjoying my new Envelope Punch Board. I needed a easy way to create a liner, using a little bit of paper…this is what I came up with!

Easy Peasy!

Let’s use this example. On my EPB (Envelope Punch Board) it states that a card size of 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 would need to start out with a 8 X 8 inch square of paper. Your starting score would be at 3 1/2. So go cut your paper, and score your envelope, but don’t fold it yet.

Now, for the liner. Notice that the first number for the card size is 41/4? Well, you are going to subtract 1/4 from that size and cut a square. That means, cut a 4” Square for your liner.

Now round just ONE corner, not two. The other side does not show, and you need one side pointed so you know how to place it on your envelope correctly. This step creates a guideline for later.

Now, it’s time to punch two edges. Refer to the golden arrow below, notice it has two points to the arrow. You need to punch 1/8” less than the size of your square. So, in our example, our square is 4”. So line up your square with the rounded punched edge to the left, upper top of the EPB to the 3 7/8 mark and punch. Flip your paper and position like the following photo and punch again at 3 7/8.

The fun part! Place your liner on your envelope, centering the rounded corners and the points of the punch on both sides, even with the score line of the envelope.

This is my very first video…I lost count how many “takes” I had….surly I will get better at this. For those of you who need to see it, here you go!

We had family fly in from Portland Oregon, to join us on a road trip to Nevada, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma and we just might slip in Bronson Mississippi before heading home...my craft room was designed to be changed back to a guest bedroom in 15 minutes! WOYWW - 198

Oh my, it's Tuesday night...15 minutes to Wednesday! I ran and took a snapshot of my room and realized I had not done anything since my last post....so, I decided to share a tool I bought sometime ago that I don't use much.

You know....was at a craft show, and I just could not leave without it. When I use it, I love it. yeppeers, it's the Zutter dreamkut. I was making notepads, in fact there one in that basket just to the right of the cutter. Great tool for that job.

I have to tell you something. I posted something on splitcoaststampers.com, that was hard to post.

I debated doing this for a long time. I have been struck down with crafters loneliness. I am starving for friends that love to do what I do, and can't seem to find any in my town.

Guess I don't get out much. Lots of folks replied, and I don't feel so different, as it seems others feel the same way. Some really wonderful ideas were suggested.

I am going to give some of them a shot!

This sounds like the first thing I want to try! OOVOO! This works on all sorts of devices and is really simple to figure out. it allows 15 people to use at the same time...that means 15 of us can get together, at the same time and craft together! We will be able to see what each of us is doing....talk AND craft at the same time!

If you are interested, all you need to do is download rhe program. Then we have to have a way to find each other.

That can be done several ways. Our gmail emails is one way. Once I downloaded the software, I was asked for my gmail account and bingo, one of you were already using it. I am thinking that was because I follow queenlightwells blog. I met her on WOYWW!

Best of all, we don't even have to live in the same country!

I think I am going to use this for a diamond anniversary. Have to go shopping for some bling. I need a diamond brad not a star!

I am sooooooo close to finally finishing this! Just the fun part of decorating left! The hard part is over!

It's Wednesday again! Boy does that day just roll around quick! A few weeks ago I was working on weaving a card. I told you all, I was not going to give up on it. Well I am telling you, I got out my scissors and cut it up to tiny little pieces, THAT FELT SO GOOD! I was humming Ya gotta know when to fold them. I feel better now that I got that off my chest.

So what's that up yonder! I grabbed my blocks my hubbie cut and sanded for me. Painted them last night and having dreams how to decorate them!

WOYWW-195

A day late and a dollar short....this past week has been so busy for me. I am so excited my order for Graphic45 came in! I ordered from Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbon, my first order, and was so surprised at how she shipped! Each item was wrapped in pretty tissue, tied with a different colored satin ribbon, along with extra papers and a rhinestone application, and a hand signed note. I thought it was my birthday, opening a special gift! My hat is off to Renee, for her style!

Can't wait to use this beautiful paper!
This week was spent in labeling chairs for work. Our conference room chairs, disappear, with broken chairs put in their place...so this is what we are trying!

yep, vinal! They really turned out cute! I ran out of the sparkly silver I was using, so until it comes in, At least I got the room number on them. I sent the cut through with my paper layed out 24x12 and of course my paper cuts the other direction of 12x24....this is the reason I ran out of vinal! Ruined a good part of it. I love vinal. While I was doing this, I also made a sign for the door. My daytime job is Working in the IT department. I made labels for 15 chairs!
LoJack is a software package that allows you to locate a stolen device, like a laptop, when stolen. it also allows you to wipe the drive, so that the perpetrator can't use your data...so "LoJack enabled" really put smiles on everyone's face!

What do you get when you mix Tara's craft studio , Amazing Paper Grace AND a material list, that contains a discontinued item...

ONE CRAZY, FUSTERATED OLD WOMAN!

I seen that beautiful basket, I had to stop all projects I was in and do it right then!

Of course, I did not have the die....nor could I find one for sale...I could find a similar die that had 4 extra holes...hummm, then I thought, use your Pazzles and cut your own....well....I have been working on this since the 15th when I received my blog email....that's 5 days ago!

When you mix Tara and Grace with Amazing Paper Grace together, I think, I have entered craft Heaven...although...this time, presenting such a beautiful project and you can't buy the die (it's been discontinued) totally flustered me.

A challenge! I love puzzles....by day I work in an Computer Network and Engineering department that has the responsibility of over 100,000 devices to keep track of and keep working....talk about puzzles. What makes there good in that environment, is I won't quit until I master it....or at least until I think I have mastered it! LOL.

So, after trying to make my own failed...trying to get others to make it for me, failed...running to Michaels and buying the die you see above comes very close...it just might work...still working on the weaving pattern. I found the die on eBay in England! Cost me a bloody bid paying the difference in our monies and having it shipped to me, but, come hell or high water, I'm gonna make that basket.

So that's the green thing laying on my desk.....wonder why I am telling you this? It's Julia's Idea! Click on that last link, to find out why!

WOWWW -193

And what a fun mess that is! I am almost done with my Valentines for my co-workers. I recently purchased a big shot off Facebook. I found some sell boards there and met a lovely lady who does what I do. Isn't that the biggest blessing! Meeting new folks who love to paper craft as much as you do! Anyway, I purchased a big shot from her along with a Sixxiz mini milk carton die. I am loving the big shot, as it takes fewer turns to crank the cut out than my grand caliber. My Grand Calibur has a larger platform, so it's still my favorite, however the big shots ability to cut thicker material like chipboard will enable me to do some fun altered art projects that I have been wanting to do.

See that big round wooden bowel....found that at a thrift shop. That was something I bought that never, ever had a home. I was about to toss it out when I tried it out in my craft room. I put a lazy Susan under it and toss things I am working with, in it. These are the things I need to put away, when the project is done. As you can see, it's has proven to be a good catch-all!

My favorite way of meeting new craft buddies, is through this blog. On Wednesdays, I plan to visit craft rooms all over the world. Pop over to Julia, at the Stamping Ground started this 193 Wednesdays ago! For a wonderful time exploring how other folks organize there craft rooms, you simply must visit! The photos you will see is, "what is on there desk on Wednesday morning". Usually messy, just as mine is. This is one time, you will never feel guilt for not cleaning up befor company!

WOYWW -191

My desk, as I woke up to it this Wednesday. Really! I discovered sell boards on Facebook this past week and have been busy selling items along with selling my last item on etsy! It's been a bit of time since I visited my own Etsy store, and LO and behold I did not have any items active but the one I sold.

I had run across some cassette holders at a thrift store and bought both for 10.00. I went to a Facebook crafting group and asked if anyone was interested prior to it going on ebay and was told to go to a sell board...HA, had no idea what they were talking about....a few questions later and I was a member of:

• The junk yard group
• Paper Scraps and more destash
• Scrapbook deals

I posted the cassette racks, and minutes later both were sold for 40.00 each and the buyer emailed me the shipping label, all I had to do was take it to the post office and put the label on it.

I went to put a new card in a clear bag envelope and what a mess! I had more clear jackets than carter has pills. Years ago I had purchased 3 packages of clear card jackets (100 jackets in each bag). Each time I would go get out a clear envelope I had to mess with those jackets...so heck I took a photo, and asked it anyone wanted them on one of those sell boards and poof, within minutes sold!

So, interesting week...found a place to sell things I don't use or need. Of course, this meant I bought a big shot and the new zutter bow maker with my new found money..

If they don't work out, I suppose they can be sold to another paper crafter....

Today, is my dear hubbies 70th Birthday, and the poor guy came down with the flu on Monday. He iis still not eating. Today, I joined him in his misery...I told him, it was his birthday present....misery loves company....right? I cancelled all the festivities, but did manage to take one photo of my desk top. My shipment of Heartfelt creations came in and I started to play with this last night. There it sits...until my family and I get back on out feet.

Doesn’t look like much………..but I am so tired, just covered 25 of these puppies!  I am trying out something new…will know tomorrow if it works or not! 

I am SO COVERED in it right now!  Darn, as I look at this photo, I see a brush I did not clean hiding over in the corner….uggggg

Ha, I just noticed my Tim Holtz stamp thingie up in the left hand corner, the dern pad fell of tonight, so, I read somewhere that you could simply glue it back on…so since I had the E6000 out, I glued it.  Will find out tomorrow if it works or not.

Oh my gosh, I need prayers for my IPAD.  Notice how close that glue gun and all the other tools are to my IPAD.

I am keeping this short this week, as I have some projects on my desk, and need to move my IPAD to a safer place!  Sand just a bit more, and get to work on time .

Well, it’s Thursday again…I think that my goal is to be the last one on Julia’s list!  HA.  I can’t seem to get it together for Wednesday, however…my desk is exactly the same today as yesterday with the exception of moving the plate from one desk to another.  If you are wondering what I am talking about, each week on Wednesdays (others) post photo’s of exactly what is on there desks.  It’s quite interesting to snoop around the world!  Come and Join us!
You can see my last years Christmas Cards on the left…yep, considering mailing these out AGAIN this year…what’s the odds that folks will remember them?
My new mat came in for my glue gun…I am especially looking forward to using the finger guards…cause I always burn mine!  I will let you know how these tools work out.
Ha, you can see my fitbit charging device.  I wear this every day…I was only taking 300 steps a day now I am up to 3000 without trying and usually get 5000 and once in a while hit my goal of 10,000.
As you can see I am working on a project.  It’s being glued right now, I should be able to turn it over tonight.  Can’t wait….Christmas Present in the making!  Can you guess what it is?  Christmas present in the background waiting to be wrapped…oh my what a busy time of the year.  Last night about one hour after I got home the door bell rang…you guessed it, it was my hiney catching up with me..  I am going to practice KISS today….”keep it simple, sweetie!” and sign off keeping the spirit of WOYWW!

WOYWW- 182

It's 4AM, I have my cup of coffee, reading all your bloggs and realizing This is Wednesday. I missed the last two weeks. This week I was prepared to craft while on the road from California to Phoenix for a business trip.

My dear sister is traveling with me for company. We filled the trunk completely with suitcases for 8 days along with craft items to work on Christmas cards. This is day 5 and the crafts are sitting in the suitcases unopened, the back seat if full of shopping treasures. While I was in meetings and classes, she at least relearned how to crochet. I am praying when I get out of my classes today, I will open the suitcases and START!

Sucuss! We actually pulled everything out, got organized, figured out what we were going to do this year, then recived a call from Hubbie...

"Did you know that you are in Arizona and the power-ball game is over 500 million or something like that...please go buy tickets..."

Poo! Off we went to buy tickets...and wine...and fast food so we could eat drink and be marry while making cards....well we did not win the Lottery, we did however get so relaxed, we only made 4 cards. see the cute Baby Janes Sister made!

We were so relaxed, we forgot to take photos of the desk and post this blog!

We hope to work again tonight then pack back up and head to California.

What's on your work desk - Wednesday -179

I returned to work this week, and there sits my project, almost done. Can you see my new Spellbinders Impressionability? It was waiting for me when I arrived home yesterday. This is my first one, I can't wait to put it to work.

Under my card and box I am working on, you can see my mats. If you look closely you can see I have layered them. Last week, I was using my non-stick craft sheet, I was rolling it up when I was done with it.... Every time I used it, It would curl, driving me nuts. So, I decided it would be just as easy to grab it from under my glass plate and the glass plate would keep it flat! Then, I decided that I would put my green mat on top of that, because I can see through my glass plate. Well I don't know if its going to last, but I am giving this a shot.

Oh let me tell you about my glass plate...it served in my kitchen for years. It's really a glass cutting board. I don't think I paid 10.00 for it. When I looked at craft glass mats, I just could not turn loose of the money for one. The cutting board I have has a texture on top of it, which just would not play nicely when I was stamping or cutting. I just turned it over! The legs easily popped off. So if you wished you had a glass cutting mat...try the kitchen area!

WOYWW - 178 - (What's on Your Work Desk - Wednesday)

Julia, from Stamping-Ground, started What’s on your Work Desk. She started posting “What's on your work desk, on Wednesday’s Many crafters from around the world, pause, take a snapshot of there work desks on Wednesdays, just as it is.

Each Wednesday….I would peek into other’s craft rooms. I have learned so much! The most important lesson I have learned from visiting WOYWW, is. I AM NORMAL!

I would be at home, at many others craft rooms. most importantly, I could probably find anything I was looking for!


Make sure you visit the Stamping-Ground, so that you can see how others stamp, craft and find out how normal you really are!

JoZart, last week, was traveling. I knew this would be my second week to post in WOYWW, and knew I would be in Reno, Nevada...looking for a house! I took her lead, and am posting makeshift work desk! HA!

I decided to bring my copics with me, so I could get started on my Christmas cards. I was glad I did. while hubbie was watching sports on TV, I got busy.

I tell you, I am having a time writing this blog, in the car, driving home on my iPad. I hope I don't make myself car sick. I just love old images..this was my first attempt of coloring this image. Can't wait to put it to a card. I fussy cut it, and wished I had my photo cube with me...next time I am packing it.

I still have work to do on both images. I am not happy with the shading. The light in the hotel was horrible for coloring...or at least that is my excuse.

All cleaned up and packed!
