Last week I attended Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 102 class.  So excited, Tim spotlighted my tattered pointsettia using a technique called colored crackle.

Rusting with Distress

So sorry, this is so short, trying to get this in before the deadline!  Whew!

Thank goodness we had two day’s to play catch up!  The following are all but 1 of the techniques we learned on Day 4.  Could not find the snow cap mixative  needed for the Faux Patina. 

Off to complete Day 5 before the deadline today!

 

Tinted Tinsel.  This photo just did not come out, but the effect was wonderful.  I can’t wait to use this for some of my Christmas Cards.

Ombre

Loved this technique.  The shine to the paper is beautiful.  So glad we had a bonus today, as this will make the cut for my punches!

Monoprint

Beautiful!  I can’t wait to use this technique for background's with stamps.  This just shimmers.

Faded Layers

I think this was my favorite today.  Yep, I learned that a little blending solution goes a long ways!  Part of this tag will make the cut for my punches or die cuts!

Creative Chemistry 102–Day 2

 

I had skipped Day 2, because I did not own any stencils…still waiting for them to come in.  Found a You Tube - Make your own stencils from Rubbish!  So, I made my own!  Then I tried my old brass stencils and they also worked!

Mixed-Media Layering:  Using homemade Stencils and brass.  Can’t wait for my TH Stencils to come in!

 

Embossing with Stencils:  I would have never even thought of embossing with my stencils!

Embossing through Stencils: My homemade Stencils did not work well for this technique.

Stencil Stamping: Ah, this was so fun to stamp inside the stencil.

Stencil Sketching:  What a goof I did.  First, I messed up trying to sketch in with a gold pin, it just ran, so I scribbled over it, then stamped and my image would not stamp over the gold ink.  Well..looks like I need some distress markers. I tried sketching in with glitter pins and loved that look, the photo did not pick up the sparkle.  Can’t wait to do this again.

Ink Monoprint:  This was a brass plate.

Paint Monoprint:  As you can see, my homemade stencils did not do so well on this one.  It was to flimsy.

Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 102–Day 3

 

I have to skip day 2, as I am waiting for my Stencils,  to come in.  The card above is using two of the techniques we learned today.  The background, using Brayered Stains and the flower, Faux Cracked Glass. The flower is cut out of thick acetate using a Grand Caliber.  This ended up being a challenge just to die cut the spellbinders dies, with the acetate I saved from the packaging of the dies.  This acetate is pretty thick.  After much fiddling around, I asked my hubby if he had any sheet metal….he did!  My sandwich ended up being cutting board, Sheet Metal, Acetate, Die (cut side down) card stock and then the grey board.  Cut perfectly and I DID NOT BITE ANYONE!

Busy busy busy!  I have been taking Tim Holt’s Creative Chemistry 102 online classes.  It’s been a challenge!  It’s day 2 and I just finished day 1!  Well, this photo is distorted!  This was an attempt at a panoramic shot!  As you can see, I am knee deep in ink and paint! 

If you are wondering why in the heck I am showing you my messy desk…Check out Julia’s place.  Each Wednesday, we get to travel the world and visit each others craft space…as it sits!  Mess or no mess!

Colored Crackle.  I hope you can see the texture on this one.

Eroded Metallic.  My picture taking does not do this one justice.  Not real happy with my choice of colors.  Can’t wait to try this one again!

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 223

Took this shot on Tuesday, 10:30 PM…with my eyes half closed!  Workday tomorrow!  I have not posted to WOYWW since Week 198!  I have missed all of you!

I have   325  Days   -- or --   46  Weeks and  3  Days left until I retire!  No more waking up at the crack of dawn!  More time to craft!  I can’t wait, on my last year!  Whoopeee.  Sorry, got sidetracked!

Well, what the heck is on my desk this week.  Starting from the left is my very dirty towel.  I am finding I like a towel, more than paper towels.

The three tags are the result of a class I am taking from Tim Holtz.  I really had a blast doing all three techniques. I just finished the class, realized that it was Tuesday night and had to get a photo and blog, because I know I won’t do it at 5 in the morning and I am not willing to get up earlier!  If I wait, I will forget!

Not sure which tag I like the best of the first two, the one on the right, I ruined with my heat tool.  Tim was right, the type of heat tool I have concentrates to a small area.  I need to find one that will not blow my ink all over the place…..

Can you see the card kinda in the middle behind the green distress ink?  That was fun to do, I still have to mount it.  It was my first attempt at faux tiling.  Finished it and then smudged the dern thing before I could mount it.

If you are wondering why in the heck I would show you my desk, my boo-boos, my mess….take it up with Julia!  She started it!

I attended a card class taught by Karen Angel  and really had a wonderful time. 

Karen asked for my blog site, and THEN I remembered, I had not blogged since April!  So, Ollie Ollie Oxen Free, come on back to home base!  I had not been in my studio since April!

Yeppers, those my friends are dust bunnies!  Oh My, can a craft studio get very dusty!  All those little tiny things…covered in dust!

Prior to my sabbatical, I was moving my old scrap ribbon storage over to wrapping on round clothes pins and placing into a Ribbon Jar.   Found a pile of ribbon and added it to my ribbon jar.  Of course, I believe in CASE! (CASE = Copy and Share Everything).  Inspiration came from Papertrey Ink and Nichole Heady!  Next time I am at a thrift shop, I will be looking for a beautiful glass jar!

 

Have you ever took a sabbatical from crafting?  I have NEVER done this for 5 months!  Have no idea what was up with that!

So, after chasing down all the dust bunnies I found myself starting my Christmas cards.  As you can see, I have dusted off my big shot and have some of my pieces done.  Waiting on some Inka Gold to come in.  I will blog the finished card when I finish them…Yeppers, I will finish these babies!

 

So, I had to find another project while waiting for snail mail…looked around there was a pile of notebooks I had never done anything with….hum, I thought!  These would be great for small gifts.

 

 

I am loving Stamping Up’s Secret Garden Stamp set.   CASE was from Brandy! with my tweak adding a gift box.  Now the brown box is the Exact same card stock as the notebook…I must have turned on my flash!

Oh, one last thing to add to my unfinished projects.  Magnetic book marks.

 

This was really creative fun for me.  I took some scrap cardboard and grabbed my distress stain daubers.

I punched out a 1 3/4 circle and used the negative to mask with a yellow/orange sun.  Then I masked off the sun and started laying my color for a sky, water and grass.  I wanted a watercolor effect and this technique worked really well.  After stamping I sealed with modge podge, dried and glued magnets on the back, added ribbon.  All using scraps!  Gotta love using scraps!

 

Well there you have it!  I have found my MOJO again!
